There is so much happening and changing in our lives, we have moved and don’t feel as though we have a space to be ourselves. Rob is working through the recent realization that they are transgender, and Ashley is questioning her own sexual identity as a result, and we’re both fearing change.

There is comfort in cooking; a logic; a rhythm; a flow. A welcome reprieve. In the kitchen, like the studio, we can just be.

Violent undertones and acts which might be considered gross are less about getting a reaction and more about the creating understanding. In our own ways, Ashley and I have both felt shame or disgust with our bodies at some point. We push against that pressure through moments of the tasteless or taboo that attempt to clue the viewer into how our sensibilities have shifted. For example, for Rob, castration, rather than a horrible act of emasculation, would be a comfort.
